Making A School Binder

At the beginning of the school year I decided to put together a school binder where I can keep everything from school that I need and I wanted to share with you some tips and what you need to create a school binder that you will actually use.

Firstly you need a binder because otherwise it's not really a binder. I got mine from Wilko and I decided to get it from there because it's super cheap there and if you don't actually use it that much you won't be sad that you spent a lot of money. I also love this tribal print on the binder.

I would then put in some dividers to separate all my subjects and these dividers were 30p from Wilko and you don't need expensive dividers or you could even make your own. There's 10 dividers in this pack but I don't use them all and I have a divider for English, Maths, Science, French, ICT, Geography and Drama and also a Other section for anything random although if I went back and made it again I would've included a divider for each science so chemistry, biology and physics as they're all in one section.

At the back I keep lots of punch pockets and in the punch pockets I put tests in because it's probably just me but I find it incredibly hard to hole punch tests so it's easier to have punch pockets for them and also I do keep some revision notes in them too.

I also like to keep a refill pad at the back of the binder so I can make my revision notes and posters on them. When I took these photos I forgot to take one of the refill pad but it's a really pretty one from Wilko.

In this binder I have a lot of revision posters and for each different thing in a subject (well mainly science) because it helps me remember them a lot more. As you can tell my notes are very colourful and are all done in Sharpie.

Tips

-Have a divider for each subject and in each section you can keep any random sheets, posters and tests.

-Keep a copy of your timetable and any timetables you might make like a revision timetable.

-If you're in class and you don't understand something repeat your notes, make more notes using online resources and answer more questions

-Have plenty of plastic punch pockets for tests

-Keep at home because you don't need it and it's bulky.

DIY Pencils

Today I'm going to be doing another DIY and this time I'm going to help you have better pencils than everyone else and everyone will be asking you where you got them from. This is a very simple DIY and won't take you a long time which is good as I'm a very impatient person. 

What You Need-

-Wooden pencils

-Washi tape

-Scissors

How To DIY these pencils-

1. Choose a washi tape and start wrapping it round the pencil but stopping after a while to smooth it down so it's not bumpy.

2. When you've got to the bottom cut the tape off and smooth out the pencil as I said it can get bumpy and that will make it hard to write and use.

3. Or another way you could do it is cut off a small strip of washi tape (in the picture I done to much so do yours a lot smaller), wrap it round the pencil only once and then when you're done cut off the excess.

4. Repeat step 3 until you've reached the bottom of the pencil. Overlap the tape slightly just so there isn't any gaps and it will look a lot neater.

That's how I DIY my pencils and it's quite easy but I can't do many advanced DIYs. I do have another DIY planned but I don't know when that will go up because I keep putting off making it.

DIY Corkboard

 

I have a corkboard on my desk and it really helps me be more organised but it was really plain looking and I love colour and my desk is really colourful so I thought I would DIY it and show you what I did. Obviously you can DIY it how you want to but this is how I did it (especially as I'm rubbish at DIY and anything creative).

What you need-

-Corkboard (mine's from Wilko and was only £2)

-Washi Tape

-Wrapping Paper

-Sellotape

-Scissors

-Inspirational card/quote 

-Cute push/drawing pins

-Whatever else you want to put on the corkboard e.g. post-its, images, quotes

How To Make It- 

1. With some wrapping paper (mine's from Paperchase) measure out the size of your corkboard and cut it out.

2. Stick the wrapping paper on the corkboard with sellotape- you could use glue but I found it easier to use sellotape.

3. As a border, put some cute washi tape and stick it down with sellotape (or glue) so it's extra secure as I found it un-sticks without being stuck down with tape. 

4. This is optional but you could put some washi tape around the sides. I done it on all sides apart from the bottom as mine's standing up on my desk and you won't see it so I thought there was no point.

5. In the corner put an inspirational quote and stick this with a cute push pin. 

6. Stick down all of your notes or whatever you're sticking on it with cute push pins (mine are from Wilko)

7. I find it really handy to have some extra push pins on the corkboard so I just have some spare in the corner and it's also handy.

8. At the bottom I had extra blank space so I just stuck down some stickers which matched the push pins and you can decorate however you want and whatever fits your style and theme of your desk.

That's how I DIY-ed my corkboard. I really want to do some more DIYs as I really enjoyed making this and this is actually the second DIY on my blog so I will be doing more and they will be easy ones as I can't do anything complex.
